About Life Light
The Founders
Mr. Rawindra and Pushpa Dongerdive founded Life Light Ministries in 1990. Rawindra completed his theological education at South India Biblical Seminary and has been involved in teaching ministry for 27 years. Pushpa has a teaching degree and is the principle at St. John's School. They both oversee the various endeavors of Light Life Ministries in India.
In 2003 we made major structural changes to the organization. We are now registered as a non-profit organization in India and the United States. Mr. John Rochotte is our one of our three trustees. We are always actively seeking more prayer partners, to work closely with us in accomplishing the God's purpose.
We believe in putting a focused emphasis on evangelism of the soul, while also remembering our social responsibilities. We believe the evangelism mandate of Matthew 28:18-20, which emphasizes discipleship and life after death. We also believe in the cultural mandate of Genesis 1:28, which is geared toward responsibility for stewardship and justice in this lifetime.
Our Mission Field
India is the world's second largest country, with a population of over one billion people. Hinduism is the dominant religion, encompassing 83% of the population. Another 12% are Muslim, with only 2.4 professing Christian faith. The Christian church in India is going through one of the most difficult times in its history. India has more people groups without Christians churches or workers than any other part of the world.
The state of Maharashtra is the least reached state in India. Aurangabad is considered a third-world area with limited resources. It is 35% Muslim, and its percentage of Christians is far below the national average. The Lord's work is growing in Aurangabad, and there are now more than 200 people worshiping with Life Light Ministries. Many of these indivituals are parents of students at St. John's Christian School.
India's children in crisis
St. John's Christian School is a government recognized, but non-aided school. It serves over 400 students, ages 4 to 16. The school offers classes from nursery through seventh grade and is staffed by 20 full-time school teachers. St. John's School gives us the opportunity to reach out to those in need and show them Christ's unconditional love. Students are taught God's love through Bible study and celebration of Christian festivals.
